This piece is inspired by Cocky Apple Trees (planchonia careya), found growing in tropical Australia. There is a profound beauty in this plant's prolific yet almost unnoticeable flowering, as the flowers open in the event and usually fall by morning.

Born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, Veronika Zeil is a self-taught artist and has explored art through a variety of media. Her drawings, paintings, mosaics, sculptures, short stories and poetry explore our psyhcological relationship to surroundings, the unstable interface of nature and culture, human frailty, and search for place. The works journey from the seemingly mundane to a discovery of the lyrical in our everyday life. In 2011, Veronika was admitted to Monash University on merit and graduated in 2013 with a Masters of Visual Art.
